Warriors explode for five second-period goals in 6-1 win over Rebels @NHLdotcom

MOOSE JAW, Sask. - The Moose Jaw Warriors scored five goals in the second period and cruised to a 6-1 win over the visiting Red Deer Rebels Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Frazer McLaren, with two goals, led the way for Moose Jaw (14-9-4-2), who now have points in seven straight games. Jason Bast, Jordan Knackstedt, Giffen Nyren and Joel Broda also scored for Moose Jaw.

Carter Smith replied for Red Deer (8-21-4-1), which has lost three straight.

The game was a rough and tumble affair at times, including three fights in a 17 second span in the third period.

Todd Mathews stopped 27 in the win, while Red Deer's Morgan Clark made 29 saves in the loss.
