Brandon got two goals from Matt Calvert as the visiting Wheat Kings reached the 40-win plateau on with a 4-2 victory over the Swift Current Broncos in Western Hockey League action Tuesday.
Brayden Schenn and Jordan Hale also scored for Brandon. Michael Stickland, with his 21st of the season, and Geordie Wudrick, with his 27th, replied for Swift Current.
Brandon goaltender James Priestner turned aside 23 shots to improve to 15-6-2-1.
Swift Current netminder Travis Yonkman made 23 saves on 27 shots to drop to 20-14-0-1.
Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Saskatoon 3 Red Deer 0; and Tri-City 4 Prince George 0.
At Swift Current, Sask., the Wheat Kings have now outscored the Broncos 23-11 in six wins this season.
Brandon improved to 40-16-3-1 and remained third in the Eastern Conference. The Wheat Kings have won six of their past seven games and 23 of 28 since Dec. 12, 2008.
Swift Current dropped to 33-26-1-1 and remained fifth in the Eastern Conference.
Saskatoon 3 Red Deer 0
At Red Deer, Alta., Braden Holtby made 38 saves and Stefan Elliott had a goal and an assist as Saskatoon shut out the Rebels.
Curtis Hamilton and Charles Inglis also scored for Saskatoon, which improved to 43-14-3-1.
Darcy Kuemper made 29 saves in taking the loss for the Rebels, who dropped to 19-32-1-8.
Tri-City 4 Prince George 0
At Kennewick, Wash., Chet Pickard made 32 saves and Tri-City exploded with three goals in the second in a 4-0 shut out of Prince George.
Justin Feser, Jason Reese, Taylor Procyshen and Mitch Fadden scored for Tri-City (40-16-0-3).
Kevin Armstrong made 36 saves in taking the loss for Prince George (23-36-0-2).
