Tuesday's WHL Roundup @NHLdotcom

Brett Sonne scored three goals to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 7-1 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in Western Hockey League action Tuesday night.

Tomas Karpov and Bostjan Golicic both scored once and set up another for the Hitmen (40-7-2-1), while defencemen Keith Seabrook, Paul Postma and Michael Stone all had three assists each.

Cody Sylvester and Kris Foucault, with his first-ever WHL goal, also scored for the Hitmen, who rebounded from a 5-4 loss to the Chilliwack Bruins at home on Sunday that broke an 18-game home winning streak.

Elsewhere in the WHL, Medicine Hat beat Chilliwack 6-5 in a shootout while Brandon edged Swift Current 5-4.

At Calgary, Brent Raedeke scored the lone goal of the game for the Oil Kings (21-23-2-4), who were coming off a convincing 8-1 win over Chilliwack at home in Edmonton on Saturday night.

Hitmen netminder Martin Jones made 14 saves to record his 16th straight win at the Pengrowth Saddledome and league-leading 29th WHL victory. Edmonton goalie Torrie Jung gave up four goals on 18 shots before being relieved by rookie Cam Lanigan, who made 10 stops on 13 shots in a relief appearance.

Tigers 6 Bruins 5 (SO)

At Medicine Hat, Alta., Tyler Ennis scored two goals in the second period and another in a shootout to lead the Tigers over Chilliwack.

Tristan King also scored in regulation and the shootout while Cody Carlson, Tristan King and Linden Vey added goals for the Tigers (26-16-3-3.

Chris Collins and Brad Ward scored for early the Bruins (13-30-2-4), while two goals from Andy Smith and another from Ryan Howse tied the game in the third period .


Wheat Kings 5 Broncos 4

At Swift Current, Sask., Matt Lowry had three assists as Brandon defeated the Broncos.

Nathan Green, Colby Robak, Keith Aulie, Jay Fehr and Scott Glennie scored for Brandon (29-13-3-1).

Georgie Wudrick, John Negrin, Michael Stickland and Matt Tassone replied for Swift Current (26-22-0-1).
