Toronto's Bernier has three straight AHL shutouts @NHL

Goaltender Jonathan Bernier, assigned last week by the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on a conditioning assignment, has a shutout in each of his three AHL starts following a 2-0 win Friday against Utica when he made 27 saves.

Bernier, who is 0-8-1 with a 3.28 goals-against average and .888 save percentage in nine games for the Maple Leafs this season, also had a shutout in a 4-0 win at Rochester on Dec. 4 (22 saves) and a 9-0 win against Manitoba on Dec. 6 (21 saves).

Bernier could start again Saturday when the Marlies play at Syracuse. His 10-day conditioning assignment began Dec. 2.

The Maple Leafs don't play again until Tuesday, when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
