The Petes score three first period goals to beat the Spirit 3-1 @NHLdotcom

SAGINAW, Mi. - The Peterborough Petes scored three first period goals and then made them stand up as they beat the Saginaw Spirit 3-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.

Justin Soryal had a goal and an assist to pace the Petes who also got goals from Patrick Daly and Arturs Kulda.

Jack Combs scored the lone Saginaw goal in the second period. The game was a penalty filled affair with 24 minors, six fighting majors, three 10 minute misconducts and two game misconduct. Goaltender Jason Missiaen was awarded second star for Peterborough (10-13-0-1) after stopping 27 shots, 22 of them in the second and third periods. Ryan Daniels turned away 28 shots for Saginaw (10-11-2-1).
