Tayler Thompson, Prince George Cougars best Prince Albert Raiders 6-3 @NHLdotcom

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - Tayler Thompson's power-play goal near the end of the second period stood as the winner as the Prince George Cougars topped the Prince Albert Raiders 6-3 on Tuesday in Western Hockey League play.

Nick Buonassisi had a short-handed goal for Prince George (2-1-1), while Jordan Tkatch and Alex Forsberg both had a goal and an assist. Spencer Asuchak also scored and Caleb Belter put the puck into an empty net with 23 seconds left in the game.

Justin Maylan had a pair of goals and added an assist for Prince Albert (1-4-1), while Mike Winther scored and added an assist.

Drew Owsley made 33 saves to earn the win for the Cougars and Cole Holowenko stopped 38 shots for the Raiders. Holowenko also turned aside Wilson Dumais' penalty shot.

Prince George was 1-for-4 on the power play, while Prince Albert went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.
