Tavares named OHL player of the week after setting career scoring mark @NHLdotcom

TORONTO - A record-breaking performance has earned John Tavares player-of-the-week honours in the Ontario Hockey League.

The London Knights phenom scored six goals and added four assists in three games last week, becoming the OHL's all-time leading goal scorer in the process. The 18-year-old scored his 215th career OHL goal in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Windsor Spitfires, passing Ottawa 67s forward Peter Lee for top spot on the all-time list.

Tavares, considered the top junior prospect ahead of this summer's NHL draft, leads the OHL with 104 points (58 goals, 46 assists) in 55 games. He's been named OHL player of the week three times this season.

Ottawa 67's forward Thomas Kiriakou (two goals, six assists in three games), Oshawa Generals forward Brett Parnham (five goals, two assists in three games) and Erie Otters netminder Jaroslav Janus (2-1-0, 1.32 goals-against average) were also candidates.
