Tavares leads Generals to 4-3 win as Sudbury's comeback falls short @NHL

OSHAWA - John Tavares scored twice and added an assist as the Oshawa Generals weathered a late rally by the Sudbury Wolves to win 4-3 on Sunday night in the Ontario Hockey League.

Tavares opened the scoring 7:48 into the game and scored short-handed in the third period, tying Bryan Cameron of the Belleville Bulls for the OHL goal scoring league with 25.

Tyler Taylor and Calvin de Haan also scored for the Generals (15-12-0-4).

Peter Hermenegildo, Brett Thompson and Patrik Lusnak replied in the third period for the Wolves (13-14-1-2), who saw their three-game winning streak snapped.

The Generals led 4-0 until Hermenegildo broke Neil Conway's shutout bid 5:26 into the third period. Conway made 39 saves while Sudbury netminder Andrew Loverock stopped 34 shots.
