OTTAWA - John Tavares and Andy Andreoff each had two goals Friday night as the Oshawa Generals handed the Ottawa 67's a 5-4 defeat in the Ontario Hockey League.

The Generals took a 3-1 lead in the first period after Tavares fought off two Ottawa defenders, got a shot off and then scored on his own rebound while Oshawa was killing off a five-on-three disadvantage.

Tony DeHart also scored for the Generals (13-11-0-3) while Neil Conway made 39 saves.

Thomas Nesbit and Anthony Nigro had a goal and an assist for the 67's (13-12-0-2) who were 4-3 shootout winners in Oshawa last Sunday. Corey Cowick also had a goal while Logan Couture chipped in two assists.

The 67's scored three power-play goals on 11 opportunities while Oshawa was unsuccessful in three chances.

"It was a different kind of game," Tavares said. "We took too many penalties against a very good power play, but we worked hard, got some good goaltending and some big games from our checking forwards. Early success really helped us for later on in the game."

Ottawa netminder Chris Perugini left the game early in the second period with an apparent knee injury. He was replaced by Adam Courchaine. The two combined to stop 21 shots.
