ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - Ryan Stoa led the way with a goal and two assists as the Lake Erie Monsters won 3-2 over the Abbotsford Heat in American Hockey League action Friday.
With the win, the Monsters have won four straight on their current six-game road trip.
Stoa netted the game-winner when he re-directed a goal-mouth feed from Brian Willsie past Heat starter Leland Irving near the midway mark of the third.
The Monsters opened the scoring on the power play early in the first when Stoa found Willsie open in the slot. The Monsters captain beat Irving five-hole for his 12 th of the season.
Lake Erie had a couple of glorious opportunities early in the second to open a two-goal lead. However, Irving made a couple highlight-reel saves to keep the Monsters' lead.
Riley Armstrong evened things up when he capitalized off a funny bounce and put it past Tyler Weiman who could not find the bouncing puck.
The Monsters restored the one-goal lead late in the second when T.J. Hensick wired a shot from the top of the circle beating Irving shortside below his glove.
Lake Erie's lead was short-lived as Abbotsford tied things at two just over four minutes later when Steffan Kronwall's blast from the point found the back of the net.
Weiman made 32 saves for his 15th win of the season. Irving, who made 27 saves, was dealt his 14th loss of the season.
