Sparks 28 saves as the Storm blank the Attack 4-0 for final playoff spot in East @NHLdotcom

GUELPH, Ont. - Garret Sparks turned away all 28 shots he faced as the Guelph Storm blanked the visiting Owen Sound Attack 4-0 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

With the victory, Guelph secures the eighth and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference.

Hunter Garlent scored twice and set up one more for the Storm (30-31-6), who beat out the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for the final spot in the East, Scott Kosmachuk had a goal and an assist and Zack Mitchell added a single goal.

Gemel Smith and Cameron Brace were both minus-3 for the Attack (32-28-7), who fell to seventh in the West.

Jordan Binnington made 30 saves in a losing effort.

Guelph went 1 for 6 on the power play as Owen Sound failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.
