Spaling scores a pair, Kitchener opens with 7-2 win over Owen Sound @NHLdotcom

KITCHENER, Ont. - Nick Spaling scored twice and rookie Mikkel Boedker added a goal and two assists as the Kitchener Rangers opened their OHL season Friday with a 7-2 win over the Owen Sound Attack.

After Marcus Carroll opened the scoring for the Attack 12:37 into the first period, the Rangers stormed back with power-play goals from Spaling, Doug Clarkson and Yannick Weber.

Phil Varone and Matt Pepe added singles for Kitchener, who were victorious in their home and season opener before 5,958 at the Kitchener Auditorium.

Scott Tregunna had the other goal for Owen Sound.
