Smith, Spina each score twice as Rampage defeat Marlies 5-3

SAN ANTONIO - Wyatt Smith scored a pair of power-play goals as the San Antonio Rampage beat the Toronto Marlies 5-3 in American Hockey League action Monday.

David Spina also scored two goals, including a short-handed empty-netter, and added an assist. Joel Perrault added a goal and an assist for the Rampage (18-26-0-1).

Bates Battaglia, Robbie Earl and Mark Bell replied for Toronto (21-16-1-5).

Josh Tordjman made 31 saves for the Rampage while Justin Pogge stopped 40 shots for the Marlies.
