Skinner's scoring lifts Hurricanes past Islanders @NHLdotcom

Jeff Skinner scored twice for the Carolina Hurricanes in a 5-3 preseason win against the New York Islanders in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Saturday.

Carolina trailed 3-2 but rallied with third-period goals by Eric Staal, Skinner, and Victor Rask into an empty net.

Joakim Nordstrom also scored for the Hurricanes, and Eddie Lack made 14 saves on 16 shots before he was relieved by Drew MacIntyre.

John Tavares and Ryan Strome scored to give New York a 2-1 lead. Ryan Pulock made it 3-2 at 7:39 of the third period.

Skinner also scored in a 3-on-3 overtime period.
