Shawinigan wins ninth straight as Vandall scores two in 4-1 win over Tigres @NHL

The goals - and the wins - keep piling up for the Shawinigan Cataractes, thanks in no small part to an explosive offence.

Pierre-Alexandre Vandall had two goals and an assist to help the Cataractes to their ninth straight victory, a 4-1 win over the Victoriaville Tigres Friday night in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

With the win, the Cataractes improve to 16-4-0-0 and lead the league in goals scored with 99. The Drummondville Voltigeurs are second in that category with 72.

Vandall, who is now tied for 12th in league scoring with 21 points on the year, opened the scoring in the first period and assisted on the game-winner before notching the Cataractes' fourth goal late in the second on the power play.

Dave Labrecque contributed three assists, raising his season point total to 29 and Matthew Pistilli scored his league-leading 17th goal of the season as the Cataractes now hold the top four spots in the QMJHL scoring race.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Acadie-Bathurst 5, Gatineau 3; Val-d'Or 6, Montreal 2; Rouyn-Noranda 3, Quebec 1; and Rimouski at Baie-Comeau.

At Shawinigan, Que., Charles-Olivier Roussel also scored for the Cataractes, while Andrej Nestrasil had the lone marker for the Tigres (10-11-0-0).

Timo Pielmeier won his ninth game of the season, stopping 31 shots for Shawinigan. Victoriaville netminder Kevin Poulin made 33 saves.


Titan 5, Olympiques 3

At Bathurst, N.B., Jonathan Lessard scored a pair of goals to help the Titan defeat Gatineau.

Drew Paris, Tomy Joly and Vincent Couture added power-play goals for Acadie Bathurst (8-8-4-0).

Alexandre Quesnel, Tye McGinn and Yoan Pinette all scored power-play goals for the Olympiques (5-11-1-1).


Foreurs 6, Junior 2

At Val-d'Or, Que., Maxime Sauve scored twice and Jason Legault had three assists as the Foreurs downed Montreal for their second win of the season.

Marco Scandella, Francois Gauthier, Alexandre Monahan and Maxim Guerin added goals for Val-d'Or (2-14-1-1).

Samuel Grenache opened the scoring and Alex Wall added a second-period marker for the Junior (9-8-0-0).


Huskies 3, Remparts 1

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Benoit Gervais and Michael Beaudry scored less than four minutes apart in the first period as the Huskies handed Quebec its second road loss of the season.

Pier-Luc Giguere scored short-handed in the second period to put Rouyn-Noranda (9-6-2-0) up 3-0.

Mikhail Stefanovich replied for the Remparts (12-3-0-1).


Oceanic 4, Drakkar 0

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Maxim Gougeon made 18 saves for the shutout as Rimouski powered past the Drakkar.

Felix Lefrancois, Olivier Fortier, Gleason Fournier and Philippe Cornet scored power-play goals for the Oceanic (11-6-0-0), who went 4-for-12 with the man advantage.

Marco Cousineau stopped 35 shots in a losing effort for Baie-Comeau (5-9-2-1).
