Ottawa Senators forward Chris Neil is out indefinitely after fracturing his left thumb during a fight in the second period of a 7-2 win against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
There was speculation Neil was a possibility to be traded, but the Ottawa Citizen reported last Thursday that Neil had not asked for one with the 2015 NHL Trade Deadline approaching on March 2.
"I haven't indicated that I want out of here or anything," Neil told the Citizen on Feb. 5. "I've taken less money (than was offered elsewhere) to stay here in previous contracts. It shows the loyalty I have to this organization. I've bled a lot and went a lot of miles with this team and I've got a lot left."

Neil, 35, has spent his entire 13-season NHL career with the Senators. His agent told ESPN.com that several teams had talked to him about Neil's interest in accepting a trade.
The Citizen said Neil could submit a list of 15 teams to whom he doesn't want to be traded.
Neil has seven points in 38 games; he plays a tough, physical style, and has nine goals and 19 points in 91 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
