The Chilliwack Bruins found their scoring groove a little too late Saturday night.

Brett Connolly had three goals as the Prince George Cougars held on for a 7-6 win over the Bruins in Western Hockey League action Saturday. Greg Fraser, Brock Hirsche, Robbie Ciolfi and Taylor Makin added singles for the Cougars (2-2-0), while Jesse Forsberg, Tyler Halliday and Marek Viedensky had two assists apiece.

In other Western Hockey League action Saturday, it was: Brandon 4 Moose Jaw 0; Edmonton 3 Prince Albert 2; Everett 4 Vancouver 3 (SO); Kelowna 5 Kamloops 0; Medicine Hat 4 Kootenay 2; Portland 6 Seattle 1; Spokane 5 Tri-City 2; and Swift Current 7 Lethbridge 2.

At Chilliwack, B.C., Mitch Topping, Kevin Sundher, Travis Belohrad, Dylen McKinlay, Ryan Howse and Brandon Manning replied for the Bruins (1-3-0), who rallied from a 6-1 deficit but ultimately fell short.

James Priestner made 29 saves to earn the win for Prince George.

Lucas Gore and Mark Friesen combined to stop 19 shots for Chilliwack.

Wheat Kings 4 Warriors 0

At Moose Jaw, Sask., Andrew Hayes' third straight shutout led Brandon past the Warriors.

Hayes made 24 saves as he extended his shutout streak to 188 minutes and 10 seconds.

Aaron Lewadniuk scored a goal and added two assists for the Wheat Kings (3-1-0), while Jay Fehr, Scott Glennie and Brenden Walker also scored for the visitors.

Jeff Bosch made 21 saves for the Warriors (2-2).


Oil Kings 3 Raiders 2

At Prince Albert, Sask., Brent Raedeke's fourth goal of the season with 4:21 left in the third period led Edmonton past the Raiders.

Tomas Vinkous and Rhett Rachinski added goals for the Oil Kings (2-1-1).

Craig McCallum and Ryan Harrison scored for Prince Albert (2-2-0).


Silvertips 4 Giants 3 (SO)

At Everett, Wash., Tyler Maxwell and Shane Harper scored in a shootout to lead the Silvertips past Vancouver.

Zack Dailey, Dan Iwanski and Radko Gudas scored in regulation for Everett (2-1-0).

J.T. Barnett scored twice to lead Vancouver (3-1-1), while James Henry added a single.


Rockets 5 Blazers 0

At Kelowna, B.C., Stepan Novotny had a three-point night and Adam Brown made 23 saves as the Rockets blanked Kamloops.

Novotny had two power-play goals and one assist while Brett Bulmer and Cody Chikie, with their first WHL goals, and Lucas Bloodoff also scored for Kelowna (1-2-1-0).

Kamloops (3-1-0-0) trailed 1-0 and 3-0 at the period breaks.


Tigers 4 Ice 2

At Cranbrook, B.C., Mark Isherwood had a goal and three assists and head coach Willie Desjardins earned his 300th career victory in Medicine Hat's win over the Ice.

Emerson Etem scored twice and Linden Vey added a single for the Tigers (2-0-1).

Max Reinhart and Dustin Sylvester countered for Kootenay (2-2-0).


Winter Hawks 6 Thunderbirds 1

At Portland, Ore., Stefan Schneider and Riley Boychuk each had a goal and an assist to lead the Winter Hawks past Seattle.

Chris Francis, Colid Redden, Luke Walker and Jacob Berglund also scored for Portland (2-1-0).

Prab Rai replied for Seattle (1-4-0).


Chiefs 5 Americans 2

At Spokane, Wash., Kyle Beach scored twice as the Chiefs cruised past Tri-City.

Mitch Wahl, Jared Cowan and Brett Bartman also had goals for Spokane (2-0-1).

Tyler Schmidt and Johnny Lazo countered for the Americans (2-1-0).


Broncos 7 Hurricanes 2

At Swift Current, Sask., Geordie Wudrick and Cody Eakin both scored twice as the Broncos routed Lethbridge.

Michael Strickland, Reece Scarlett and Mike Brown added singles for Swift Current (2-2-0).

Brody Sutter and Ryan Moser replied with third-period goals for Lethbridge (0-4-0).
