Saturday's OHL Roundup @NHLdotcom

It's been a big week for Greg McKegg.

McKegg scored twice and added an assist as the Erie Otters eked out a 4-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night. The Otters moved two points ahead of the Spirit in the standings with the win. Erie has 57 points following their fourth straight home win and eighth in the past nine outings.

McKegg was a late addition to the OHL's all-star game on Wednesday night in Kingston, Ont. He earned two assists for the Western Conference.

Anthony Luciani opened the scoring 54 seconds into the first period - only his second goal in the past 11 games. Then McKegg took over the period and the team's goal-scoring lead.

He took David Shields' pinpoint breakout pass and beat the Spirit's Edward Pasquale for a short-handed goal at the 7:32 mark. He added an even-strength goal - his 28th of the season - with 2:51 left in the period for a 3-0 lead heading into the second period.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was London 4 Brampton 1; Windsor 5 Niagara 2; Peterborough 6 Oshawa 3; Mississauga 8 Sudbury 3; Guelph 5 Belleville 4; Plymouth 5 Owen Sound 1 and Barrie 5 Sault Ste. Marie 3.

At Erie, Pa., Luciani and Zack Torquato also scored for Erie (25-22-7), while Adam Courchaine made 30 saves for the win.

Michael Sgarbossa had a pair of goals for Saginaw (25-22-5), while Jordan Skellett added a single. Pasquale stopped 25 shots.


Knights 4 Battalion 1

At London, Ont., Leigh Salters scored and had two assists to lift the Knights to a win over Brampton.

Colin Martin, Michael MacDonald and Justin Taylor had the other markers for London (37-14-2).

Ben Alavie was the only scorer for the Battalion (18-22-12).


Spitfires 5 IceDogs 2

At Niagara, Ont., Greg Nemisz scored and had two assists as Windsor downed the IceDogs.

Ryan Ellis and Eric Wellwood both had a goal and an assist for the Spitfires (42-8-5), while Justin Shugg and Adam Wallace also tallied.

Andrew Agozzino provided all the offence for Niagara (18-29-6),


Petes 6 Generals 3

At Peterborough, Ont., Justin Larson had a goal and two assists as the Petes doubled Oshawa.

Brett Theberge, Adam Sedlak and Matt Puempel scored and added a helper for Peterborough (25-26-3), while Adrian Robertson and Liam Heelis had singles.

Scott Valentine opened scoring for the Generals (21-26-5), while Christian Thomas and Tyler Taylor also tallied.


Majors 8 Wolves 3

At Sudbury, Ont., Casey Cizikas had two goals and set up a pair as Mississauga thumped the Wolves.

Devante Smith-Pelly scored and added three assists for Mississauga (35-13-5), while Stuart Percy, Derek Schoenmakers, Ryan Lopes, David Corrente and William Wallen also tallied.

Justin Sefton, Jared Staal and Eric O'Dell provided the offence for Sudbury (21-27-5).


Storm 5 Bulls 4

At Belleville, Ont., Adam Comrie scored the winner with less than two minutes left to play as Guelph edged the Bulls.

Mathew Sisca had a goal and an assist for Guelph (22-25-4), while Francis Menard and Carter Sandlak added markers.

Kyle DeCoste tallied and added two assists for Belleville (16-30-7), while Shawn Lalonde, Jan Kaminsky and Richard Panik also scored.


Whalers 5 Attack 1

At Plymouth, Mich., Garrett Meurs had a natural hat trick as the Whalers sailed to a win over Owen Sound.

Michal Jordan and Tyler Brown had the other goals for Plymouth (32-20-2).

Grant McGee was the lone scorer for the Attack (24-25-6).


Colts 5 Greyhounds 3

At Barrie, Ont., Bryan Cameron scored twice as the Colts beat the Sault Ste. Marie.

Alex Pietrangelo, Dalton Prout and Taylor Carnevale had the other goals for Barrie (42-7-2).

Daniel Catenacci had a goal and an assist for the Greyhounds (27-21-5), while Myles McCauley and Jordan Nolan added singles.
