CRANBROOK, B.C. - Burke Gallimore played the hero for the Saskatoon Blades, tying the game with eight seconds remaining in regulation and potting the overtime winner in a 5-4 victory over the Kootenay Ice in Western Hockey League action on Saturday night.
Gallimore's winner cam three minutes and one second into the extra period on a spin-around shot from the slot that beat Kootenay netminder Thomas Heemskerk. The two-goal effort was Gallimore's third of the season. He now has 10 goals and 13 points.
With the victory, the Blades (10-4-1-0) rebounded from a 4-3 overtime loss to the Portland Winter Hawks on Wednesday to post their ninth win in 10 games.
Darian Dziurzynski also scored a pair of goals and Derek Hulak rounded out the scoring for Saskatoon. Andrew Bailey, John Negrin, Kevin King and Tylan Stephens replied for the Ice (8-5-2-3), who have recorded at least a point in each of their last seven games.
Braden Holtby made 31 saves for the Blades, while Heemskerk stopped 24 shots.
