LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The top two teams in the Pacific
Division meet at Staples Center on Saturday when the Los Angeles
Kings host the San Jose Sharks in the finale of a home-and-home
The Sharks pulled into a tie with the Kings for first place in
the division after rolling to a 5-0 rout in the opener of the
home-and-home set on Friday.
Evgeni Nabokov made 25 saves for his third shutout of the season
and Patrick Marleau scored twice in a span of 29 seconds in the
second period as San Jose extended its winning streak to three
Jonathan Cheechoo had a pair of goals and Nils Ekman scored for
the Sharks, who are without a loss in a franchise-record 10
straight home games.
San Jose, which had managed only 23 goals in its previous 12
games, scored more than three goals for the first time since
Los Angeles goalie Cristobal Huet struggled in place of injured
goaltender Roman Cechmanek, who has been sidelined for eight
consecutive games with a bruised hip.
The Kings had their four-game unbeaten streak snapped and were
shutout for the third time this season.
