Before Joe Sakic is honored with a pre-game retirement ceremony by the Colorado Avalanche Thursday night, he and Avalanche President Pierre Lacroix will guest on the 2009-10 season-debut edition of NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman on and SIRIUS XM Radio.

The program will originate live from Denver, site of tonight's ceremony to honor Sakic by retiring his No. 19 jersey and lifting it to the Pepsi Center rafters.  Among his many accomplishments, the franchise will celebrate the longtime captain's 20 seasons, 13 All-Star appearances, two Stanley Cup championships, the 2001 Hart Trophy, the 2001 Lady Byng Trophy and the 1996 Conn Smythe Trophy.

Under Lacroix's leadership, the Avalanche has become a mainstay of the Colorado sports scene. During his 1995-2006 tenure as the club's president and general manager, the Avalanche won two Stanley Cup championships, nine consecutive division titles, advanced to the playoffs 11-straight seasons and recorded a 484-game sellout streak.
