ROCKFORD, Ill. - Ben Walter, Greg Nemisz, Hugh Jessiman and Ryan Howse all scored in the shootout as the Abbotsford Heat edged the Rockford IceHogs 3-2 in the American Hockey League on Wednesday.
Howse and Akim Aliu also scored in regulation as Abbotsford (30-21-5) earned a valuable two points to stay tied with the San Antonio Rampage at 65 points in the tight West Division playoff race.
Danny Taylor made 31 saves in regulation and overtime to earn the win. Taylor also turned away four shooters in the shootout.
Ben Youds and Matt Fornataro supplied the offence for Rockford (24-26-7), while Carter Hutton stopped 35 shots.
Howse tied the game 1-1 for Abbotsford on the power play 14:39 into the first period. He also scored the winner in the seventh round of the shootout.
Both teams went 1-for-5 on the power play.
