Rouyn-Noranda Huskies nip Lewiston 2-1; coach Tourigny celebrates 500th game @NHLdotcom

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies honoured coach Andre Tourigny with a win as he passed a coaching milestone.

Christophe Losier had the winner as the Huskies nipped the Lewiston Maineiacs 2-1 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Saturday night.

It was Tourigny's 500th game as a coach in the QMJHL. Tourigny is 17th in the league's history, and is chasing Eric Lavigne of the P.E.I. Rocket, who has coached 508 games.

Tourigny has won 263 games, almost exclusively with Rouyn-Noranda. He won two games as the assistant coach of the Shawinigan Cataractes during the 1998-99 season.

He became the head coach of the Huskies in 2002.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Val-d'Or 5 Gatineau 4 (OT); Montreal 6 Saint John 4; Baie-Comeau 8 Cape Breton 4; Moncton 6 Drummondville 3; and Acadie-Bathurst 2 Halifax 1.

At Lewiston, Maine, Jordan Caron opened scoring for Rouyn-Noranda (28-18-4).

Matthew Bissonnette was the only scorer for Lewiston (17-29-2).


Foreurs 5 Olympiques 4 (OT)

At Gatineau, Que., Vincent Couture had the overtime winner and a goal in regulation as Val-d'Or nipped the Olympiques.

Samuel Morneau had two goals and two assists for the Foreurs (18-25-5), while Olivier Dallaire also scored.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored a pair for Gatineau (23-20-4), while Adam Janosik and Mathieu Gagnon added goals.


Junior 6 Sea Dogs 4

At Verdun, Que., Matthew Brenton and Jeremy Gouchie both had a pair of goals and an assist as Montreal upset Saint John.

Louis-Marc Aubry and David Rose also scored for the Junior (23-20-3).

Mike Hoffman scored twice and had two assists to lead Saint John (39-8-1), while Nicholas Petersen chipped in with two goals.


Drakkar 8 Screaming Eagles 4

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Simon Olsson had a goal and three assists as the Drakkar doubled Cape Breton.

Marc-Olivier Mimar had a short-handed marker for Baie-Comeau (15-30-3), while Jean-Philippe Caron, Kevin Bisaillon, Raphael Bussieres, Mike Villeneuve, Dominic-Antoine Tremblay and Maxim Lamarche all found the back of the net.

Luke Adam had a pair of goals for the Screaming Eagles (28-17-5), while Maxime Legault and Cory MacIntosh also scored.


Wildcats 6 Voltigeurs 3

At Drummondville, Que., Nicolas Deschamps scored twice as Moncton doubled the Voltigeurs.

David Savard had a goal and an assist for the Wildcats (32-11-4), while Brandon Gormley, Alex Wall and Kelsey Tessier.

Gabriel Dumont, Philippe Lefebvre and Ondrej Palat replied for Drummondville (33-14-2).


Titan 2 Mooseheads 1

At Halifax, Vincent Arseneau scored with 45 seconds left to play as Acadie-Bathurst edged the Mooseheads.

Jonathan Lessard had the other goal for the Titan (18-27-5).

Charles Bety was the lone scorer for Halifax (10-35-3).
