PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Tony Romano scored the tying and winning goals as the Peterborough Petes rallied past the Ottawa 67's 3-2 in overtime in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.
Romano tied the game with 33 seconds left and scored again 1:31 into overtime on a power play to help the Petes (24-32-0-2) close the gap in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Petes trail the Oshawa Generals and Sudbury Wolves by two points for the eighth and final playoff spot.
Pat Daley also scored for the Petes while Ryan Spooner and Zack Kassian chipped in two assists each.
The 67's (32-19-4-2) scored both goals 2:16 apart in the first period with Logan Couture, on a power play, and Thomas Nesbitt tallying.
Ryan Daniels made 44 saves in the Petes' goal for the win while Chris Perugini stopped 30 shots.
