Road trip takes Sabres into playoff contention @NHLdotcom

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - If only for a day, Sabres goalie Ryan Miller is happy to be back home in Buffalo for a chance to change his wardrobe.

After spending 10 days on the road, Miller and his teammates are hoping that's all that's grown stale. The Sabres are riding a 6-1-2 roll that has vaulted them into playoff contention.

The run has come during what Miller said is a season-defining seven-game road swing in which the Sabres have gone 4-1-1 so far. Buffalo held a brief practice at home Friday, a day before traveling to Toronto for a game against the Maple Leafs on Saturday.

The Sabres (33-26-8) have moved into seventh in the Eastern Conference standings. They had been in 12th place and 10 points out of contention on Jan. 1.
