Report: Souray assigned to AHL Hershey @NHLdotcom
According to multiple media reports, the Edmonton Oilers have assigned defenseman Sheldon Souray to the Hershey Bears, the AHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals.

Souray, who recently had been waived by the Oilers, had asked for a trade after the 2009-10 season ended, but the team was unable to find a partner. The Oilers had told him to stay away from training camp, and Souray has been skating and working out on his own.

The Oilers now cannot trade Souray now until he passes through re-entry waivers. Souray remains property of the Oilers rather than the Capitals.

A serious hand injury limited Souray to just 37 games last season, and he had just 4 goals and 19 points.
