The Vancouver Canucks
have released center Brendan Morrison
from his professional tryout contract, TSN reported Sunday.
Morrison, 35, has 547 points (187 goals, 360 assists) in 829 NHL games. The Canucks reportedly tried to offer a two-way contract, but were turned down. He had one assist in four preseason games for Vancouver.
A former second-round pick of the New Jersey Devils
(1993), Morrison had 12 goals and 30 assists in 74 games with the Washington Capitals
last season. It was his highest point total since the 2005-06 season, when he had 19 goals and 37 assists with Vancouver.
