KENNEWICK, Wash. - James Reid made 41 saves as the Spokane Chiefs beat the Tri-City Americans 4-1 in WHL action.
Reid is 9-0-1 in the month of November as the Chiefs have won nine of 12 games.
The Americans (19-7-0) lost for the just the second time on home ice this year, and saw their lead in the U.S. Division standings shrink to four points over second-place Portland, a 6-4 winner over Seattle.
Spokane (15-8-2) evened the 12-game series at two games apiece.
Tyler Johnson scored a short-handed goal just 3:09 into the game. Spokane took a 2-0 lead at 10:18 as Jared Cowen chipped the puck past Tri-City goalie Drew Owsley, and the lead grew to 3-0 at 15:08 with a goal by Brenden Kichton.
In the second period, Mitch Wahl gave the Chiefs a 4-0 lead, taking a nice pass across the crease from Blake Gal and putting the puck in an open net behind Owsley.
Owsley finished with 43 saves.
The Americans came out firing in the third, outshooting the Chiefs 20-5, and avoided the shutout when Brendan Shinnimin scored a power-play goal at 13:57.
