Red-hot Americans explode for seven goals again in 7-3 rout of Portland @NHLdotcom

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Taylor Procyshen scored a pair of goals and the Tri-City Americans scored seven goals for the second night in a row with a 7-3 victory over the Portland Winter Hawks on Sunday night.

Radek Meidl, Blair Macaulay, Shaun Vey, Johnny Lazo and Colton Yellow Horn, with his WHL-leading 43rd of the season, scored for the Americans, who also got 15 saves from rookie Kyle Birch.

Macaulay's goal 27 seconds into the second period was the Americans' league-leading 20th short-handed goal of the season.

Tri-City (42-12-1-2) took a four-point lead over Spokane in the U.S. Division and Western Conference standings with the win, coupled with Seatte's 2-0 win over the Chiefs.

The Winter Hawks (9-48-1-1), who have lost 13 in a row, got a 38-save performance by Kurtis Mucha and goals from Nick Dietrich, Travis Bobbee and Matt Schmermund.
