Rangers' Olympians to appear on NBC's 'Today Show'
by NHL.com StaffNew York Rangers captain Ryan Callahan will join teammates Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh as guests on NBC's "Today Show" on Wednesday in the 8:30 a.m. (ET) half-hour live from Rockefeller Center in New York City.
The trio, who will play for the United States at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, will be interviewed by Savannah Guthrie to discuss the anticipation of competing for a gold medal.
This will be the first Olympic experience for Stepan and McDonagh; Callahan played for the U.S. team that finished with a silver medal in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Stepan captained the U.S. to the 2010 World Junior Championship gold medal and played with McDonagh at the 2011 World Championship, where he was named the Americans' best player.
Stepan, who led the Rangers with 44 points last season, is third on the team with 35 (10 goals, 25 assists). McDonagh's 30 points (eight goals, 22 assists) leads Rangers defensemen, and Callahan has 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) in 40 games.
The Rangers are tied with the St. Louis Blues for the most players from one team to represent the United States at Sochi.
