QMJHL Roundup: Moynihan scores twice as Mooseheads down Armada 3-1 @NHLdotcom

SYDNEY, N.S. - Connor Moynihan had a pair of goals ? including the eventual winner ? as the Halifax Mooseheads downed the host Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 3-1 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Moynihan opened the scoring at 6:34 of the second period for the Mooseheads (5-8-2) while on the power play and then made it 2-0 at 17:54 with his fourth goal of the season.

Andrew Schewfelt rounded out the offence with an empty-net goal late in the third.

Evgeny Svechnikov's sixth goal of the year came at 12:29 of the third period for the Screaming Eagles (6-7-2).

Halifax's Eric Brassard made 25 saves for the win as Alexandre Belanger stopped 30-of-32 shots for Cape Breton.

Both clubs went 1 for 4 on the power play.



VAL-D'OR, Que. ? Samuel Tremblay scored 1:27 into the extra period as Blainville-Boisbriand edged the Foreurs to halt a three-game skid.

Joel Teasdale and Kristian Pospisil also scored for the Armada (6-6-2), who got a 20-save outing from Samuel Montembeault.

Carl Tremblay and Anthony Richard supplied the scoring for Val-d'Or (9-5-2) while Etienne Monpetit kicked out 30-of-33 shots in defeat.

Foreurs winger Julien Proulx was handed a game misconduct early in the third period for checking to the head.
