QMJHL Roundup: Ehlers scores twice as Mooseheads force Game 7 against Wildcats

HALIFAX - The Halifax Mooseheads have forced Game 7.

Winnipeg Jets prospect Nikolaj Ehlers scored twice and added two assists as the Mooseheads beat the Moncton Wildcats 7-5 on Sunday in Game 6 of their second round Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series.

Brandon Vuic also had a pair of goals for Halifax, while Vincent Watt, Philippe Gadoury and Timo Meier added the others. Danny Moynihan chipped in with three assists.

Lane Cormier struck twice for the Wildcats. Jacob Sweeney, Conor Garland and Bronson Beaton rounded out the attack.

Eric Brassard turned aside 43 shots for the win in goal. Alex Dubeau started for Moncton, but was pulled after kicking out 10-of-15 shots in 21:41. Jason Rioux went the rest of the way and made 17 saves while also picking up an assist.

Halifax's Kelly Brent received a game misconduct at 14:01 of the third period for being the first or second player to leave a bench during an altercation, or for the purpose of participating in an altercation.

The Mooseheads converted three times on four power-play chances while the Wildcats were 1 for 3.

Moncton hosts the series finale on Tuesday.
