Maximilien Le Sieur's empty-net goal turned out to be crucial.

Le Sieur's insurance goal became the game-winner as the Shawinigan Cataractes edged the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 3-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Thursday.

Le Sieur gave the Cataractes a two-goal cushion with just under 2:30 left in regulation, but Samuel Noreau scored a short-handed goal for the Drakkar with one second remaining to make it close.

Elsewhere, Chicoutimi beat P.E.I. 2-1.

At Shawinigan, Que., Pierre-Olivier Morin and Mathieu Gagnon also scored for the Cataractes (11-5-2).

Carl Gelinas scored his 11th goal of the year for the Drakkar (11-5-0).

Alex Dubeau made 26 saves for Shawinigan while Antonio Mastropietro stopped 31 shots for Baie-Comeau.

At Charlottetown, Cole MacMillan scored the winner as Chicoutimi (9-5-5) edged the last-place Rocket (4-11-2).
