QMJHL Roundup: A Look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

Even with Jonathan Huberdeau out with an injury, the Saint John Sea Dogs continue to stay atop the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League standings thanks Danick Gaulthier.

Gaulthier scored two goals and assisted on two others Saturday as the Sea Dogs (18-6-0) beat the Halifax Mooseheads 4-3 in QMJHL action. Tomas Jurco and Grant West each added a goal and an assist.

Nathan MacKinnon led the Mooseheads (13-6-2) with two goals, Gabriel Desjardins had the other.

Mathieu Corbeil stopped 33 shots for the win while Zachary Fucale made 28 saves in defeat.

The Sea Dogs hold a one-point lead over the Shawinigan Cataractes and Quebec Remparts for first overall in the league.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Shawinigan 6, Drummondville 1; Rimouski 6, Victoriaville 3; Moncton 4, Baie-Comeau 0; Gatineau 4, Rouyn-Noranda 2; and Quebec 5, Val-d'Or 1.

At Saint John, N.B., Gaulthier opened the scoring at 8:03 of the first period.

MacKinnon tied the game for the Mooseheads at 13:05 and it stayed that way heading into first intermission.

Jurco regained Saint John's lead with a power-play goal at 9:40 of the second but MacKinnon responded on a Halifax power play three minutes later to tie it up again.

West then scored at 19:57 to give the Sea Dogs a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.

Gaulthier's second goal of the game came on the power play at 1:07 of the third period.

Desjardins scored for the Mooseheads at 5:05 to cut the lead in half, but Corbeil stood solid the rest of the way in goal to preserve a 4-3 win for the Sea Dogs.

Cataractes 6, Voltiguers 1

At Shawinigan, Que., Frederick Gaudreau and Loik Poudrier each scored two goals as the Cataractes (16-6-3) beat Drummondville (10-12-2).


Oceanic 6, Tigres 3

At Victoriaville, Que., Francis Beauvillier had two goals and an assist as Rimouski (14-10-0) defeated the Tigres (16-8-1).


Wildcats 4, Drakkar 0

At Moncton, N.B., Marek Hrivik scored twice and added an assist, while Roman Will stopped all 29 shots he faced as the Wildcats (12-11-1) shut out Baie-Comeau (12-9-0).


Olympiques 4, Huskies 2

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Anthony Cortese scored two goals and Francois Lacerte made 29 saves to lift Gatineau (11-10-1) over the Huskies (7-15-2).


Remparts 5, Foreurs 1

At Val-d'Or, Que., Adam Erne scored twice and Vincent Barnard and Martin Lefebvre added three assists each as Quebec (16-4-3) defeated the Foreurs (10-14-2).
