Predators' Volchenkov to have Player Safety hearing @NHLdotcom

Nashville Predators defenseman Anton Volchenkov will have a phone hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Sunday at the player's request.

Volchenkov hit Calgary Flames forward Michael Ferland in the head with 48 seconds remaining in the second period of the Predators' game Friday against the Flames. No penalty was called on the play. Ferland did not return to the game.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: elbow and illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
