SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -An 8-minute power outage delayed the start of the San Jose Sharks' home opener against the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
The arena went dark just before the game was supposed to start. Emergency lights turned on and the teams continued their warmups. The game began 25 minutes after its scheduled starting time.
"It was venue specific," Sharks senior director of communications Ken Arnold said. "At no time was anyone in danger. We scrapped all the pregame activities to get the thing started."
The 15-year-old arena underwent a major interior refurbishment over the summer that included updating the electrical capabilities.
