ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Alex Pietrangelo scored the only goal of the shootout as the Niagara IceDogs defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 6-5 in the Ontario Hockey League on Sunday afternoon.
It was the first shootout win of the season for the IceDogs, who are also 0-4 in overtime games.
Marco Insam led Niagara (10-9-4-4) with two goals and an assist. Pietrangelo, Matt Piva and Matt Sisca also scored.
Ethan Werek had two goals and two assists for Kingston (6-14-4-2), Matt Kang had a goal and three assists and Josh Brittain and Andris Dzerins added singles.
IceDogs netminder John Cullen was pulled after allowing three goals on 14 shots in 20 minutes and 49 seconds of work. His replacement, Mark Visentin, made nine saves to record the win.
Anthony Peters stopped 40 shots, including six in overtime, for the Frontenacs.
