Pickard makes 43 saves to shut out the Americans 3-0 @NHLdotcom

SEATTLE - Goaltender Calvin Pickard earned his first shutout of the season leading the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 3-0 win over the Tri-City Americans on Friday night in Western Hockey League action.

The game was scoreless heading into the third period until Sean Aschim, Chance Lund and Blake Gallimore all scored for Seattle (8-11-0).

Pickard had 43 saves in the win while Eric Comrie made 26 saves on 28 shots in defeat.

Tri-City (15-6-0), which came into the game with the best record in the Western Conference, did not score on seven power play opportunies while Seattle scored on 1-of-7 attempts.
