PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Matthew Murray will make his NHL debut against the Carolina Hurricanes at Consol Energy Center on Saturday.
Murray was 12-4-0 with a 1.84 goals-against average, a .938 save percentage and four shutouts in 17 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the American Hockey League.
Jeff Zatkoff allowed eight goals on 62 shots in losses against the Bruins on Wednesday and Friday. It was the first time in the NHL he had started consecutive games.
Forward Scott Wilson, who was recalled Saturday from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, could make his season debut. He is tied for the AHL lead with 15 goals and is tied for 11th with 24 points in 25 games.
He replaces rookie forward Daniel Sprong, who was returned to his junior team, Charlottetown of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He had two goals in 18 games.
Returning Sprong, a second-round pick (No. 46) in the 2015 NHL Draft, to his junior team means he can't play for the Penguins again this season until Charlottetown's season is over. And since he played more than 10 NHL games it counts as one season on his three-year, entry-level contract.
"Spending this time in the NHL has been a good development experience for Daniel," Penguins general manager Rutherford said. "But it's important for him to have more playing time."
Pittsburgh did not have a morning skate Saturday so it is unknown if Wilson will play against Carolina. He made his NHL debut last season, playing 4:21 on seven shifts against the New Jersey Devils on Dec. 2, 2014. He sustained a lower-body injury during the game. He also played in three Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Hurricanes, who also did not skate Saturday, are expected to start goalie Cam Ward. Ward allowed one goal on 17 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Florida Panthers on Friday.
Here are the projected lineups:

Status report: Sullivan said Friday he has not been given a definitive timetable regarding Letang's return. The defenseman skated on his own before Pittsburgh's morning skate Friday.
Who's hot: Sheary scored his first NHL goal in his second game Friday. He finished the game with one goal and one assist. … Faulk saw his five-game point streak end Friday. He had four goals and eight points during that stretch.
