The Pittsburgh Penguins announced goaltender Tomas Vokoun will skate on Wednesday.
Vokoun, who has not played this season due to blood clots in his leg, has been off blood thinners for a week. When his levels are normal he will be able to start taking shots, according to coach Dan Bylsma.
Vokoun was signed by the Penguins prior to the 2012-13 season and became their starting goaltender in the Stanley Cup Playoffs after Marc-Andre Fleury struggled through the first four games of an Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the New York Islanders.
The 37-year-old has 300 career regular-season wins with the Nashville Predators, Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and Penguins.
