Patterson's pair helps Blades claim division lead with 5-3 win over Warriors

SASKATOON - Gaelan Patterson scored twice as the Saskatoon Blades claimed first place in the East Division with a 5-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.

Burke Gallimore tallied the eventual game-winner late in the second period to put the Blades (14-6-1-0) up 4-2. Martin Filo scored his second goal of the game with under three minutes remaining to pull Moose Jaw within one, but Patterson's empty-netter put the game out of reach.

Josh Nicholls and Charles Inglis also scored for Saskatoon. Joel Broda had the other goal for the Warriors (6-12-0-1).

Braden Holtby made 23 saves for the Blades, while Moose Jaw netminder Todd Mathews stopped 28 shots.
