The Nashville Predators
and defenseman Ryan Parent
have agreed on a two-year, $1.85 million contract. The 23-year-old defenseman will make $850,000 in 2010-11 and $1 million in 2011-12.
A restricted free agent, Parent had been acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers
on June 19 in exchange for the rights to impending unrestricted free agent Dan Hamhuis
Parent had 3 points -- including his first NHL goal -- in 48 games with the Flyers in last season. He missed all of January and February due to a back injury. He returned to score 1 goal in 17 playoff games.
In 102 NHL games -- all with the Flyers -- Parent has 1 goal and 7 points.
Parent had been a 2005 first-round pick of the Predators, and was traded to Philadelphia in 2007 as part of the package that landed Peter Forsberg
