Panthers lose 3-2 on penalties in Finland @NHL

TAMPERE, Finland (AP) -Nathan Horton and Mike Duco scored as the Florida Panthers warmed up for their NHL opener in Helsinki.

Former Colorado Stanley Cup winner Ville Nieminen led Tappara to victory as the only man to score on penalties, lifting his team past the Panthers for a 3-2 win.

The Panthers got a taste of the bigger European rink against the home team, ranked sixth in the Finnish League.

On Thursday, the Panthers will play club Jokerit in Helsinki. They'll face off against the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL opener on Saturday.
