OHL Roundup: DiGiancinto scores hat trick as Spitfires down Spirit @NHLdotcom

SAGINAW, Mich. - Cristiano DiGiacinto scored a hat trick and added an assist, Ben Johnson had two goals and two assists, and Alex Fotinos stopped 27 shots to lead the visiting Windsor Spitfires over the Saginaw Spirit 11-6 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday.

Slater Koekkoek scored a goal and helped on two others, and Nikita Yazkov, Ryan Foss, and Josh Ho-Sang each had a goal and an assist. Ty Bilcke rounded out the Windsor (21-12-1) offence with his first goal of the season.

Luke Cairns scored twice for Saginaw (16-14-5), while Kontos Kristoff had a goal and three assists. Justin Sefton and Nick Moutrey had a goal and an assist apiece and Brandon Prophet also scored.

Nikita Serebryakov started in net for the Spirit and gave up nine goals on 39 shots. He was replaced by David Ovssannikov, who allowed two goals on two shots in the last 1:47 of the game.



KITCHENER, Ont. ? Andrew Fritsch scored twice to lead the visiting Greyhounds past the Rangers.

David Miller, Blake Speers, and Darnell Nurse also scored for Sault Ste. Marie (24-8-4), and Sergey Tolchinsky chipped in with two assists.

Darby Llewellyn scored his 19th for Kitchener (12-20-1) and Ben Fanelli, Nick Magyar, and Justin Bailey also scored. Curtis Meighan added two assists.

Brandon Halverson turned away 23 shots for the win, while his counterpart, Matthew Greenfield, made 28 saves.



LONDON, Ont. ??? Brendan Perlini scored twice and added an assist, and Brent Moran made 54 saves as the IceDogs upset the Knights.

Vince Dunn, Michell Fitzmorris, Carter Verhaeghe, and Cody Caron also scored for Niagara (11-20-4). Luke Mercer and Jordan Maletta contributed with two assists apiece.

Max Domi and Matt Rupert each scored two for London (25-7-3), and Zach Bell rounded out the Knights' offence.

Jake Patterson made 26 saves in the losing effort.



OTTAWA ??? Roland McKeown scored twice and added two assists to lift Kingston over the 67's.

Samuel Schutt also had two goals for the Frontenacs (19-11-4), and Ryan Verbeek, Ryan Kejawinski, Roberto Polesello, and Darcy Greenaway rounded out the Kingston offence.

Ryan Van Stralen scored twice for Ottawa (11-19-3), and Joseph Blandisi had a goal and two assists. Brett Gustavsen and Dante Salituro had a goal and an assist apiece.

Matt Mahalak made just 10 saves on 15 shots to pick up the win, while Philippe Trudeau stopped 43 shots in the losing cause.



OSHAWA, Ont. ??? Connor Chatham scored the tying goal in the third period, and added the shootout winner as Plymouth edged the Generals.

Francesco Vilardi and Zach Lorentz rounded out the offence for Plymouth (12-20-4), and Brook Hiddink had two assists.

Justice Dundas, Hunter Smith, and Michael Dal Colle scored for Oshawa (24-9-3).

Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 36 shots for the win, while Daniel Altshuller made 24 saves in the losing effort.
