OHL Roundup: A look at Wednesday's games

Cameron Wind scored 14:47 into the second overtime as the Brampton Battalion completed a four-game Eastern Conference quarter-final sweep with a 4-3 win over the Sudbury Wolves in Ontario Hockey League playoff action Wednesday.

Wind ended the lengthy game as he unloaded a slapshot from the top of the left circle that beat Wolves goaltender Joel Vienneau on his blocker side.

Ian Watters, Jamie Lewis and Derek Froats also scored for the Brampton Battalion.

Michael Sgarbossa, Joshua Leivo and Derek Schoenmakers replied for the Wolves.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Oshawa 5 Niagara 3; Spirit 4 Sting 3 (OT); and Owen Sound 6 Kitchener 5 (OT).

At Sudbury, Ont., Matej Machovsky stopped 39 of 42 shots for the Battalion.

Vienneau made 41 saves for the Wolves.

Leivo opened the scoring for the Wolves on the power play at 3:14 in the first period after he was left alone in the slot and beat Machovsky high to the blocker side.

Watters tied the game at 8:29 in the second period with a short-handed goal on the breakaway after Josh McFadden mishandled the puck at the offensive blue-line.

Lewis gave the Battalion the lead at 13:11 of the second after he tipped a point shot between Vienneau's pads.

Sgarbossa tied the game at 15:25 of the second after he beat Machovsky blocker side with a shot from the high slot.

Froats gave the Battalion a 3-2 lead at 11:13 in the third period after he beat Vienneau glove side with a wrist shot from the left circle.

Schoenmakers tied it up on the power play at 18:10 to send the game to overtime.

Sudbury went 2-for-9 on the power play, while Brampton wound up 0-for-11 on the man-advantage.

At Oshawa, Ont., Lucas Lessio scored twice as the Generals evened their series with Niagara at two games apiece. Game 5 is Saturday in St. Catharines, Ont.

Spirit 4 Sting 3 (OT)

At Saginaw, Mich., Josh Shalla scored his second goal of the game 1:48 into overtime as the Spirit tied the series with Sarnia at 2-2. Game 5 is Friday in Sarnia, Ont.

Attack 6 Rangers 5 (OT)

At Owen Sound, Ont., Kyle Hope scored in overtime as the Attack staved off elimination by beating Kitchener. The Rangers have a 3-1 lead in the series, which resumes Friday in Kitchener, Ont.
