OHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

The Brampton Battalion took top spot in the Ontario Hockey League's Central Division with a win over the rival Barrie Colts.

Matej Machovsky made 31 saves as the Battalion defeated the Colts 4-1 Saturday.

Sam Carrick, Barclay Goodrow and Adam Lloyd all had a goal and an assist for Brampton (17-10-4), while Jamie Lewis added the other goal.

For Lewis, it was his first career OHL goal.

Ivan Telegin scored the lone goal for Barrie (17-11-3)

Clint Windsor turned aside 29 shots in a losing cause.

Brampton went 0-for-2 with the man advantage while Barrie scored once on two power-play opportunities.

The Battalion have now won three games in a row and have jumped one point ahead of both the Colts and Niagara IceDogs for first in the Central Division.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Kingston 3, Niagara 2; Plymouth 4, Sarnia 1; Ottawa 1, Sudbury 0; Windsor 6, Erie 5 (OT); Saginaw 6, Belleville 4 and Owen Sound 6, Guelph 1.

At Barrie, Ont., Lewis scored 1:17 into the second period to give the Battalion a 1-0 lead.

Telegin put the Colts on the board with a power-play goal at 7:57 to tie the game heading into the third period.

Goodrow scored 11 seconds into the third and Lloyd added another at 8:57 to give Brampton a 3-1 lead.

Carrick then put one into an empty net at 18:59 to give the Battalion a 4-1 victory.

At St. Catharines, Ont., Igor Bobkov made 37 stops as Kingston (8-19-4) snapped a five-game losing streak with victory over Niagara (17-12-3).


Whalers 4 Sting 1

At Plymouth, Mich., Garrett Meurs scored two goals and Matt Mahalak stopped 32 shots to lead the Whalers (21-8-3) over Sarnia (17-9-5).


67's 1 Wolves 0

At Sudbury, Ont., Talyor Fielding scored the only goal of the game and Petr Mrazek stopped all 28 shots he faced as Ottawa (18-9-4) shut out the Wolves (16-11-1).


Spitfires 6 Otters 5 (OT)

At Windsor, Ont., Ben Johnson scored twice, including the winner in overtime, as the Spitfires (17-14-4) defeated Erie (4-24-2).


Spirit 6 Bulls 4

At Saginaw, Mich., Josh Shalla scored two goals, including the game winner, as John McFarland and Brandon Saad each had a goal and an assist to lift the Spirit (12-17-2) over Belleville (19-12-0).


Attack 6 Storm 1

At Owen Sound, Ont., Gemel Smith scored twice and added an assist and Mike Halmo had one goal and two assists as the Attack (16-13-4) crushed Guelph (13-13-4).
