Nugent-Hopkins scores two quick goals as Rebels take down Chilliwack 5-2

CHILLIWACK, B.C. - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored two goals less than two minutes apart in the first period to help the Red Deer Rebels defeat the Chilliwack Bruins 5-2 Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Landon Ferraro had a goal and an assist, while Nathan Green and Colten Mayor also scored for the Rebels (11-12-0).

Ryan Howse and Brandon Manning replied for Chilliwack (8-12-4), which is on a three-game losing streak.

Kraymer Barnstable made 34 saves for Red Deer, while Bruins starter Lucas Gore lasted only one period, allowing three goals on seven shots. Mark Friesen replaced him and stopped 14 of 15 in the final 40 minutes.
