Niemi gets two points as Saskatoon handles Lethbridge to take series opener @NHLdotcom

SASKATOON - Jyri Niemi had a goal and an assist as the Saskatoon Blades beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-1 to take a 1-0 series lead in Western Hockey League playoff action Friday night.

Stefan Elliott, Curtis Hamilton, Chris Langkow and Walker Wintoneak also scored for Saskatoon.

Cam Braes scored the lone goal for the Hurricanes two minutes and 10 seconds into the game.

Braden Holtby made 22 saves for the Blades, while Lethbridge netminder Brandon Anderson stopped 21 shots.
