DETROIT (AP) - P.A. Parenteau scored on a power play at 3:57 of overtime to give the New York Islanders a 4-3 victory over the Western Conference-leading Detroit Red Wings on Friday night.
Parenteau put in a one-timer from the left faceoff dot for his ninth goal.
John Tavares had a goal and two assists, Matt Moulson and Jesse Joensuu also scored and Dwayne Roloson made 38 saves for New York. The Islanders, coming off a 2-1 shootout victory over Eastern Conference-leading Pittsburgh on Wednesday night, are 6-1-1 in their last eight games.
Johan Franzen, Valtteri Filppula and Tomas Tatar scored for Detroit. Darren Helm had two assists and Jimmy Howard stopped 18 shots. Tatar tied it at 3 with 9:42 left, scoring his first NHL goal in his first game.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Backup goalie Johan Hedberg made 28 saves and the New Jersey Devils beat the Atlanta Thrashers 3-1 on Friday to snap a six-game losing streak and give Jacques Lemaire his first victory since replacing John MacLean behind the bench.
Lemaire lost his first three games after taking over for the fired MacLean on Dec. 23.
Rookie defenseman Mark Fayne scored his second NHL goal, captain Jamie Langenbrunner had his first in more than a month and Ilya Kovalchuk also scored for New Jersey.

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Montreal newcomer James Wisniewski scored his second goal of the game 3:41 into overtime to give the Canadiens a comeback victory over Florida.
Wisniewski, acquired from the New York Islanders on Tuesday, scored the winner off a rebound of Michael Cammalleri's shot. The defenseman had a power-play goal in the second period.
Brian Gionta also scored and Alex Auld stopped 20 shots to help the Canadiens, coming off a 4-1 loss at Tampa Bay on Thursday night, overcome a 2-0 deficit to finish 2-5 on their seven-game trip.
Stephen Weiss and Dmitry Kulikov scored for Florida in a 1:45 span early in the second period.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Jake Voracek, a recent healthy scratch for his lack of production, scored an unassisted goal off a quirky bounce off the back boards for Columbus.
The puck took a big ricochet and Ottawa's Alex Kovalev and Chris Campoli were unable to corral it. Voracek swooped in and forced the puck between goalie Brian Elliott's leg pads 2:06 into the overtime.
R.J. Umberger, Rick Nash and Samuel Pahlsson scored in regulation for the Blue Jackets, who blew a 3-0 lead but hung on for their third straight win. Steve Mason had 35 saves. Voracek also had an assist.
Ottawa's Daniel Alfredsson forced the extra period, scoring with 1:11 left in regulation. Mike Fisher and Nick Foligno also scored for the Senators.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Pekka Rinne made 22 saves to help Nashville end its losing streak at five games.
