BOSTON (AP) -Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist to extend his points streak to 15 games - the best in the NHL this season - and Michael Ryder scored two goals Saturday night to lead the Boston Bruins to a 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.
It was the 11th consecutive home victory for the Bruins, their longest streak in 26 years. Manny Fernandez stopped 20 shots to win his eighth straight and improve to 6-0 with a 1.67 goals-against lifetime against Atlanta.
Dennis Wideman also scored for Boston, which has won 16 of its last 19 overall to move to the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
One night after Boston won 7-3 in Atlanta, thanks in part to a goal and two assists from Kessel, the Bruins completed the home-and-home sweep and sent the Thrashers to their 11th loss in 13 games. Nathan Oystrick and Marty Reasoner scored for Atlanta.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Thomas Vanek scored his NHL-leading 23rd and 24th goals, and Derek Roy scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period.
Drew Stafford added a goal in the Sabres' fourth win in their last five games. Patrick Lalime, making his first appearance in seven games, made 20 saves.
Patrik Elias and Bobby Holik scored for New Jersey.
MONTREAL (AP) - Michael Nylander scored with 3:32 remaining in the third period, and Simeon Varlamov stopped 32 shots for Washington in his NHL debut.
Nylander put a shot from behind the goal line into the net off goalie Jaroslav Halak's pad. Nicklas Backstrom also scored for Washington.
Patrice Brisebois scored for Montreal, which lost its second in a row to finish 4-2-1 on its franchise-record seven-game homestand.
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Johan Franzen scored his second goal of the game with 19.9 seconds left to force overtime, and Henrik Zetterberg and Jiri Hudler scored in a shootout for Detroit.
Chris Osgood made three saves in the shootout, the last a pad save on Shane Doan's attempt to secure the victory - Detroit's fifth in six games. Zetterberg and Tomas Holstrom also scored in regulation for the Red Wings. Doan, Steven Reinprecht, Joakim Lindstrom and Mikkel Boedker scored for Phoenix.
The game marked the return of Detroit defenseman Chris Chelios for his 25th season. The 46-year-old Chelios missed the Red Wings' first 29 games after fracturing his right tibia during the preseason.
OTTAWA (AP) - Martin Gerber made 24 saves for his first shutout of the season, and Alexandre Picard and Daniel Alfredsson scored for Ottawa.
Tampa Bay star Martin St. Louis left the game after being hit in the face by linesman Derek Amell's skate in the final minute of the third period. St. Louis was bleeding profusely while being escorted to the dressing room.
The Lightning were coming off a 3-1 victory in Montreal on Thursday night that snapped their nine-game losing streak. Tampa Bay is 2-8-4 since interim coach Rick Tocchet took over for the fired Barry Melrose.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Mike Knuble scored twice to help Philadelphia win its fourth straight game and improve to 7-0-2 in its last nine home games.
Joffrey Lupul, Mike Richards, Scott Hartnell and Jeff Carter also scored, Kimmo Timonen had a career-high four assists, and Martin Biron made 23 saves.
Jordan Staal, Eric Godard and Ruslan Fedotenko scored for Pittsburgh. The Penguins have lost four of their last five.
NEW YORK (AP) - Henrik Lundqvist stopped all five shots in the shootout and Chris Drury scored the only goal in the tiebreaker for New York.
Drury beat Cam Ward with a deke to his backhand, and Lundqvist stopped Justin Williams to give New York its third win in seven games - all post-regulation victories.
Lundqvist made 29 saves in his NHL-leading 17th win a night after allowing eight goals in a roller-coaster loss at New Jersey.
Markus Naslund and Blair Betts scored first-period goals for the Rangers, and Tuomo Ruutu and Ray Whitney responded for the Hurricanes.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Rookie Steve Mason made 24 saves to improve to 8-4-1 and help Columbus hand New York its sixth loss in a row.
Fredrik Modin, Jason Chimera and Andrew Murray scored to help the Blue Jackets win their fourth straight home game. The Blue Jackets improved to 7-2-1 against the Islanders since joining the NHL in 2000-01.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Dan Ellis made 27 saves for his second shutout in his last six games, and Joel Ward scored twice for Nashville.
Ellis has allowed only three goals in his last three starts. He has eight career shutouts, two against the Stars - the team that originally drafted him.
David Legwand also scored to help the Predators end a three-game losing streak.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Erik Ersberg made 33 saves, Anze Kopitar and Michal Handzus scored on power plays, and Alexander Frolov added an empty-net goal for Los Angeles.
Brent Burns spoiled Ersberg's shutout bid with a power-play goal with 1:53 to play. Minnesota has lost four straight.
